Red Sticks at Loring Library

Loring Library opened for students this past week. All classes visited the new library for the first time.  The week before I visited all classes to preview this first visit and discuss classroom rules and expectations for library explorations and expectations. Everytime Loring students visit the library they will experience three things:

  1. they will be able to select a book to take home
  2.  they will learn - at least - one new thing
  3.  they will write in their Library Journals.
This week we learned how to use the "red sticks"! The red sticks are "place holders" to help keep our library in good order. We learned to associated having the red stick in our hands with FOCUSING on our job -- which is to look for and select our book for the week.
